We were blessed to host a team from the Birth Attendant School (B.A.S.) at YWAM Perth, Australia. They came to Zambia with training shaped around mothers, babies and healthy communities, and their main place of service was in local hospitals. There they entered the daily reality of health care, learning from those already serving and offering practical help with humility and compassion.
Serving where care is most needed
Hospital ministry placed the team close to families during important and vulnerable moments. Their role was not simply to complete tasks, but to notice people, work alongside local staff and bring encouragement into busy care environments. The outreach reflected the holistic gospel we value at YWAM Lusaka: caring for physical needs while treating every person with dignity and the love of Christ.
Worship, prayer and life at the base
During their stay, the Birth Attendants team joined worship and prayer nights and interacted with staff, students and guests at the YWAM Lusaka base. Those shared moments mattered. Outreach is shaped not only in hospitals and organised programmes, but also around meals, in prayer and through the conversations that grow when people from different nations live and serve together.
We are grateful for the breadth of their contribution: skilled service in health settings and a willingness to participate fully in the spiritual and community life of the base. Their visit showed how specialised training can serve a much wider story of mission.
