YWAM Lusaka is a place to be and live if God has touched your heart to reach the unreached, serve local communities and equip them with the Word of God — on a long-term or short-term commitment. We are part of the YWAM global family of ministries.

How it started
YWAM Lusaka is located close to Lusaka city, the capital of Zambia. It started in 1986, pioneered by an American couple, Randy and Jane Rhoades, who worked in Lusaka for 17 years using an old Christian camp site that they rented. In the 1990s God began to speak to them about moving into their own place and building a ministry centre that would train and equip Zambians for missions and health care.

The land God provided
At a base prayer time, God gave several people a picture of a triangle and a palm tree. A little while later, somebody came and told them he wanted to give them land to build on. When they went to check it out, they noted the land was in the shape of a triangle with a palm tree in the centre! By God's grace, in 2001 the Lord provided this piece of land — about seven acres. To this day YWAM Lusaka operates from this land that God supernaturally provided.
As a base we are strategically placed, with many ministry opportunities within our community and in the city. Our desire is to see God's kingdom manifested amongst the people of this community, bringing transformation that spreads from one community to another.
To see Zambia, Africa, and the nations transformed through biblically grounded disciples who live on mission.
To equip, train, and send believers through discipleship schools, biblical training, and mission outreaches that reflect the heart of God and the authority of His Word.

What is YWAM?
Youth With A Mission (YWAM) is an international movement of Christians from many denominations dedicated to presenting Jesus personally to this and future generations, mobilising as many as possible to help in this task, and training and equipping believers for their part in fulfilling the Great Commission.
YWAM began in 1960 with a focus on helping youth get involved in missions. Today the organisation still focuses on youth while including people of all ages, with tens of thousands of staff (“YWAMers”) from nearly every country.
YWAM's mission statement is “To Know God and Make Him Known.” The message of the gospel is not only about the salvation of souls, but the transformation of people's lives and their communities.
