Every story points back to God's faithfulness — His Word, and His power to transform lives. Here are real testimonies from DTS students and staff.

Portrait of Godrich Miller
I was introduced to YWAM at my church and later joined the Discipleship Training School (DTS). DTS transformed my life by helping me know God personally, discover my calling, and grow in obedience and sensitivity to His voice. Today, I serve as YWAM staff and preach the Gospel, continuing to walk in the presence of God because of the encounters I experienced during DTS.

After completing my DTS, God spoke to me about joining staff here. It was not an easy decision, as I had planned to pursue other opportunities. But as I prayed about doing other things, I did not have peace. Remembering what I learned during DTS about hearing the voice of God and walking in obedience, I chose to follow His leading — and today I am grateful to be serving Him in the mission field at YWAM Lusaka.

Portrait of David Nyirenda
I did my DTS in 2004 right here at Lusaka. Today I care for the garden and maintenance, with a heart to reach my Muslim neighbours through food and football.

I see a bridge as a connecting tool — connecting people, connecting with people, and connecting with God. Without a bridge, communities can be separated forever.

YWAM has taken a huge part of my heart. I truly believe it is something God predestined for me. I joined YWAM Lusaka as a DTS student in 2024–2025. Through DTS, God opened my eyes to His Word, and I discovered the true purpose of life. After DTS, I left the base for about a month, but God kept speaking to me and leading me back. I prayed, and He filled me with deep peace and joy to say yes to full-time staff. I am excited to serve in DTS schools and within the base community through Maintenance and Sustainability. Every day is a new opportunity to see God move and be part of what He is doing. YWAM has become more than a mission. It is home. It is calling. To God be the glory!

Portrait of Faith Chanda
During DTS, we had quiet time every morning, and I learned that discipline is sometimes needed to consistently hear God, even when He feels silent. Through the lives of YWAM staff serving daily, I also saw a practical example of what true surrender looks like. My character was stretched as I began to see chores and caring for the environment as worship and stewardship. During the outreach phase, I witnessed people's willingness to receive God's Word, and it showed me that the harvest is truly plentiful and ready. DTS shifted my mindset on missions: every believer is called to share the Good News, but each of us has a unique mission field within our own sphere of influence.

Portrait of Nyasha Edith Mbewe
I did my DTS in 2019 in Northern Ireland, and since 2023 I have been serving at YWAM Lusaka. I have had the privilege of staffing DTS and serving in hospitality and the training department. What I love most is seeing God transform hearts — students who come in broken and leave knowing they are deeply loved by their Heavenly Father. DTS is where I have seen God's faithfulness again and again, both in my life and in the lives of students.
